We went to Beast last week. It was the hottest day so far (49ºC w/humidex, they said). I didn’t even want to look at my stove.
My starter: Duck hearts, mushrooms, asparagus, a poached duck egg on toast. Oh my. The hearts were cooked perfectly—as was the egg (runny yolk once you cut into it). Huge portions, it could’ve been a main! After that, I could barely get through the haddock tacos. So much food. I don’t know why I ordered such heavy dishes. I’m going to blame it on the heat…and also, I simply could not resist.
And then there was dessert. Sticky toffee pudding, with the cake drowning in toffee sauce and cream. Insanely decadent. Addictive. It done did me in. Other dishes on our table were: halloumi (favourite summertime cheese! BBQs!), olives, rice balls, fatty lamb ribs, two tres leches cake slices and booze. I still have no idea how we got up from our chairs.

A meeting for snacks with farewelltocharms turned into dinner when I ordered a whole block of items from Beast Restaurant’s Beast120 (happy hour!) snacks menu. I’ll be more sensible about this next time…or not because everything was pretty delicious.
And seriously, save room for dessert. Worth it. As someone who grew up with a grandma who taught us to take vietnamese/french baguettes, rip, dunk into a bowl of condensed milk, then devour…anything drenched in three kinds of milk (especially condensed milk) is good in my books.
